Approximately 4 months ago Every Cat Counts received a call from a distressed person concerning a cat that had wandered onto their property who appeared to be ill. I went down to see, and a small kitty came running out of the woods when we called.
Upon examination I realize that this little girl had some type of a spinal injury, her back legs were wobbly and her tail hung Straight down. Upon closer examination we realized she was covered with thousands of bot fly eggs which would soon hatch. That would have been a disaster.
Emily was taken to the vet. She was examined and had routine blood work and found to be very healthy despite her injury. She was cleaned up and we brought her here to the house. Emily had to have her bladder expressed several times a day, which also would cause her to have a BM.
Things were going well until 3 weeks ago. Emily began not wanting to eat and seemed lethargic. We went to the vet and after many diagnostics it was determined she had a bladder infection. Antibiotics and fluids were prescribed. Three weeks later she is still gravely ill with fevers, lethargy and loss of appetite.
Emily needs more vet care, more than I can give her at the moment financially. Her original bill was close to $1,000, which I am paying off on a payment agreement. They will not give me a second payment agreement while one is opened already. So I'm asking for Emily's sake for donations.
She is a young cat, just barely a year old, and deserves a life. I am very willing to be her nurse, and do the things you must do for a cat that has a spinal injury, but she has to get over this infection as soon as possible. She must go to the vet, and have further testing.
